Red Rock Canyon
Ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel der Bewohner von Las Vegas liegt westlich der Stadt: Die Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. Weil hier ein wesentlicher Aspekt auf Landschafts-Erhaltung liegt, wird dieses Gebiet nicht vom National Park Service (NPS) betreut sondern vom Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Unsere Jahreskarte für die Parks der Vereinigten Staaten, die wir für 80 $ schon im Everglades National Park gekauft haben, gilt auch hier.
Große rote Sandsteingipfel und -wände, die von gelblichen kontrastiert werden, sind bei Kletterern beliebt und animieren jeden zum Klettern. Selbstverständlich sind interessante Wanderwege angelegt. Ein Scenic Drive führt im großen Bogen durch den Park.
A favourite excursion destination for Las Vegas residents lies to the west of the city: the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. As conservation of the landscape is a key aspect here, this area is not managed by the National Park Service (NPS) but by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Our annual pass for the parks of the United States, which we bought for $80 in Everglades National Park, is also valid here.
Large red sandstone peaks and walls, contrasted by yellowish ones, are popular with climbers and encourage everyone to climb. Interesting hiking trails have of course been laid out. A scenic drive leads in a wide arc through the park.
